A paintings “raison d’être” must be that there is no other way to show what needs to be shown, the paint is a forced move. This means that any attempt to translate the painting into another medium let us say into a photograph will lead to the loss of information. Of course photographs are a wonderful way of making a work of art known to the public but only the actual painting shows the true intentions of the painter.
